Confiscation of Snakes

Cairo airport authorities arrested a passenger who tried to smuggle different snakes’ species (Egyptian cobra, Olive grass snake, African egg-eating snake and Montpellier snake) different sizes. The snakes were handed over to Giza Zoo. Some snakes were found dead when they arrived.

The snakes were packed in woven bags, suffering from stress and cold over four days. Reptile house vets classified the snakes and housed each species in a suitable warm enclosure.
Snakes will remain under observation for 90 days (quarantine) in private enclosure.
